Hateful Eight Brings Back 70mm Film Projection

Quentin Tarantino's latest film was shot entirely in 70mm.  There have been some recent films that have had a few limited scenes shot in 70mm.  Technically it's shot in 65mm and released to theaters on 70mm prints.  The Hateful Eight will be released in 100 theaters in North America, 96 in the United States and 4 in Canada.  It's a rare opportunity to see a feature film shot and projected in this high quality large format.

This may be the last hurrah for 70mm film.  It's likely that it's only a matter of time for before 35mm becomes history as well.  Of the roughly 40,000 screen in the United States 97% of use digital projection.
