Wes Craven 1939 – 2015, Goodbye and R.I.P.

Filmmaker Wes Craven died today of brain cancer.  He's best know for A Nightmare On Elm Street and Scream.   He will be remembered best as the man who created one of the most memorable bad guys ever, Freddy Kruger.  He helped to reinvent the horror genre with films like Nightmare and Scream breathing new life into a tired genre more than a few times during his career.

He gave a lot of great actors their big break in movies including Johnny Depp and Peter Berg.  Not all of his films were well received but he deserve credit for being original and influential along with other contemporaries such and John Carpenter.

Here a list of just some of his work:

Scream 4 - 2011
My Soul to Take  - 2010
Paris, je t'aime (segment "Pere-Lachaise") - 2006
Red Eye - 2005
Cursed - 2005
Scream 3 - 2000
Music of the Heart 1999
Scream 2 - 1997
Scream - 1996
Vampire in Brooklyn - 1995
New Nightmare - 1994
The People Under the Stairs - 1991
Shocker - 1989
The Serpent and the Rainbow - 1988
The Twilight Zone (TV Series) (5 episodes) 1985-1986
A Nightmare on Elm Street  - 1984
The Hills Have Eyes Part II  - 1984
Invitation to Hell  - 1984
Swamp Thing  - 1982
Deadly Blessing - 1981
The Hills Have Eyes - 1977
The Fireworks Woman (as Abe Snake) - 1975
The Last House on the Left - 1972

His great work lives on.   Rest in peace Wes Craven.
